Halo 3 - fun stats, the MLG playlist and the upcoming new maps

Bungie’s latest weekly update has dropped, full of goodies for the addicted Halo gamer. I’ll just summarize things a bit, since it’s easy to hop over to Bungie’s site and get the full details.

The impending addition of an MLG playlist
As I mentioned in a previous post, Team Hardcore in matchmaking will soon be replaced by an MLG 4v4 playlist. Bungie answered a few player questions about the change.

Q: What is the MLG Playlist? - A: It is a 4v4 Ranked Playlist that includes a mix of Oddball, Team Slayer and King of the Hill. It is based on MLG’s v4 Gametypes and Maps

Q: When can I play in the MLG playlist? - A: The playlist will be a part of the April Hopper Update

Some fun and interesting numbers
One of Bungie’s stats guys put together a list of stats showing some of the most popular (and least popular) aspects of Halo 3.

Most Popular Service Tags (I’m sure most of these will look familiar)

  • O07
  • M16 - this would be the one I use
  • I69
  • P26 - my cousin used to use this one
  • S80
  • H20
  • I87
  • D13

The Legendary DLC
The new maps for Halo matchmaking, dubbed Legendary are coming soon! Tuesday Bungie will post a press release which will include details of just when we can expect these maps to be available for purchase and download. You can also expect that the previously released maps (Heroic map pack) to then be a free download. I paid for them. Maybe I should have waited. Nah.

One of the new Legendary maps will apparently be another snow covered land mass. Bungie released a few pictures showing off the vehicles with their new snowy exteriors. Check out the mongoose. Pretty shnazzy.

  1. I heard they were planning on brining the Team SWAT game type back that they had in Halo 2. Have you heard that?

    Cool site

  2. Hi there Shaun! Yep you heard right! I believe SWAT will return on the 20th of this month to matchmaking. Unfortunately it will only be for a weekend. Double EXP points will also be rewarded.

Hopefully Bungie will decide to make both SWAT and Grifball regular additions to matchmaking at some point =)
