Grifball - Team HLC Results - Week 3

We’re already into the third week of the Grifball Spring League and last night my Team HLC teammates and I played two more games. The first game I sat out. I admittedly had a horrible practice before the game, so it was a good decision on the part of our Team co-captain TheHolmcross to go with the players who were lighting it up in practice. The strategy paid off. My teammates easily handled Team Dropping Bombs, winning 8-1. TheHolmcross scored six of those goals. The man is an amazing trick runner.

Unfortunately our second game didn’t go quite so well. We got off to a great start, scoring a couple quick goals, taking a 2-1 lead, and then one of our teammates lagged out of the game, leaving us with a 4 on 3 disadvantage. That allowed Team Patriot to score 3 quick goals on us. Before we knew it, they had scored 5 goals meaning we had no chance to win, since games are played to a total of nine goals. The final score was 5-4.

The good news is that we still hold first place in our division. It’s a very slim lead though, so we’ll need to finish strongly in our last 4 games in order to make the playoffs.

Here’s the stats from last night’s games. I had 49 kills in the game I played but also a ridiculous 56 deaths. I had an unbelievably difficult time with a player named Geof. He was on a roll and pretty much untouchable. I’d say nearly half of my deaths could probably be credited to him. He’s improved tremendously since the first time I saw him in week one.

Next week we face off against Grabity and NeiborKids. We defeated Grabity the first time we played them, but lost in our first game to Neiborkids. Hopefully we’ll come away with two victories. We should as long as we play as well as we’re capable of playing.

Halo3 MLG - Capture the flag RB vs Iconik Impact

A capture the flag match on MLG’s “Ons” map which was added to the Halo3 MLG playlist recently. It’s a great map and definitely my favorite in the playlist.

In case you haven’t heard by now, Red vs Blue will soon be returning. This is the trailer for the upcoming Reconstruction series.

XBOX link love - volume 1

While HaloVidz is primarily about finding great videos and reporting news related to Halo 3, I also plan to link to articles which I think may be of interest in one way or another to users of the XBOX 360. I suppose you could consider it to be link love posts, and this would be volume one.

  • How to avoid the dreaded “red ring of death” - Colin Temple of XBOX Living has put together this great article outlining a few things you can do to help lessen your chances of experiencing the infamous red ring of death on your XBOX 360.
  • No Blu-Ray player for the XBOX 360 - If you were hoping to soon be able to purchase a Blu-Ray attachment for your 360 now that Hi Def DVD is dead, it sounds like you’re out of luck. Microsoft expects downloadable content to increase instead.
  • Will we soon see larger XBOX hard drives? - Bruce Everiss, a game industry marketer, speculates that with things such as the demise HD-DVD, Microsoft will release much larger hard drives for XBOX 360, sooner rather than later.

Grifball commissioner issues stern warning to league players

As you may already know, this weekend marks the second time in about a month that Bungie has added Grifball to Halo 3 matchmaking for a double EXP weekend. Unfortunately they are still using the old Grifball map which contains a couple spots that can be exploited, allowing players to cheat. It seems some of the players cheating are Grifball.com league players.

Grifball Spring League commissioner Quikthnkr issued a statement regarding league players cheating, which included the following.

Cheating in matchmaking by league members will not be tolerated. It reflects poorly on the league and it reflects poorly on me and I won’t have it. This is absolutely not up for discussion or debate. If I have proof of a league member cheating on Xbox Live in any way shape or form there will be repercussions. If you think being a member of the league means you don’t owe us anything when you are out sullying the name of Grifball by tearing the map apart and cheating to win a game for XP you are mistaken.

It’s a great stance to take. If you’re in a league, wouldn’t you want to do your best to represent it and not make you and your peers look bad? I think it’s pathetic if you need to cheat just to win a game.

Fortunately I haven’t personally encountered any fellow league players cheating this weekend. The ones I’ve encountered has been representing our league very well and of course have provided the most challenging matchups.
